An Ohio native, Dr. Boni Elewski is an international thought leader in fungal diseases and psoriasis. Dr. Elewski is currently a professor and the James E. Elder, MD Chair of the Department of Dermatology at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She has been active both in academia and clinical research for over 43 years.
Throughout her clinical career, Dr. Elewski has authored more than 300 publications and delivered hundreds of medical lectures to dermatologists, physicians, residents, and non-physician providers around the world. Dr. Elewski is known for her excellence and commitment to the training and education of dermatology residents across the country.
Dr. Elewski graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1978, where she earned her medical degree before completing a residency in dermatology at the University of North Carolina in1982.
Her research and commitment to the field of dermatology have made her world-renowned. In the past, she has served as President of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Women's Dermatology Society. She received the prestigious Rose Hirschler Award representing outstanding women in Dermatology in 2011. Recently in 2019, she was named one of America’s Most Honored Doctors.
Dr. Elewski’s reputation for being a compassionate provider, focused on putting patients first, has followed her throughout her career. To this day, Dr. Elewski maintains a busy schedule in addition to traveling and speaking at conferences worldwide.
