Francisco Miguel Camacho Martinez, MD

Francisco Camacho Martinez was born in Melilla, Spain in 1945. An interest in anatomy and endocrinology during his early medical studies in Granada led to a fascination with dermatology and dermatologic surgery. Plastic surgery and dermatology in Granada were under the direction of his mentor Professor Felipe Dulanto, so he was able to obtain certification in both specialties.

He became Professor and Chairman of Dermatology at the University of Seville in 1981. He stayed in that position for over 30 years where he made significant contributions to medical and surgical dermatology. Professor Camacho Martinez has published over 850 articles and 22 books. His research interests vary widely and his breath of knowledge (from innovative advancement flaps to hypertrichosis, nail disease and sexually transmitted diseases) is phenomenal.

Professor Camacho Martinez is a champion for Spanish Dermatology and dermatologic surgery and did much to enhance its reputation. He served as president of the International Society of Dermatologic Surgery , the Spanish Academy of Dermatology, the Ibero Latin American College of Dermatology and the European Society of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology. He is an honorary member of several dermatology organizations, including the British Association of Dermatology and the American Academy of Dermatology.
